Since I'm not the most vocal of participants here on the site, it's not unusual for me to go days in between posting but, it's been a hell of a week and I've kind of been avoiding anything that has to do with Mustangs Tuesday morning on my way to work, I'm driving down 2nd Street Pike toward County Line and I get into the left turn lane. Some guy decides to pull out of a office driveway and make a left turn across traffic without paying attention to anything and pulls out right in front of me!! I swerved and managed to avoid a head-on or straight on t-bone collision, but he apparently didn't hit the breaks, because he managed to slam into the rear passenger quarter & wheel. yep... those are pieces of his bumper stuck in between the tire and the wheel there One of guys from VFMC works at Collisionmax, so got the car up to him and they took a look at it. They also did the estimate for the insurance company... damage is now running at about $7,200. I talked to the other driver's insurance already and Collisionmax sent them the estimates on Thursday. Now I'm waiting to hear what they are going to do - Fix or total. Depending on what their threshold is it could go either way. So for now... I'm sitting in limbo with two freakin cars that can't be driven (since the stupid Chevy won't stay driveable for any length of time) and smacking myself in the head because I KNEW something would go wrong if I actually pre-registered for a show!!!

Sorry to hear about this. That looks like a hard hit. Did you get knocked around in your car?

Its a real shame, bullitts are my favorite of the New Edge breed, but at least you're ok as far as physical injuries anyway !

Wow Heather that's terrible! If the damage is over $7k I can just about promise you they will total the car given its age and mileage. You are probably over that 50% value threshold calculator that the insurance companies use. As hard as it is, there are other stangs out there and the most important thing is you came through it OK.
You still going to come to Carlisle? Maybe you will find a new ride while you're there? Gotta look on the positive side! Think ofit as a shopping trip.

Chris - I'm still debating. I was planning on taking Friday off and heading out early that morning. I think that if I don't have the Bullitt I'll probably just come out just for Saturday. If they've totaled the car then it probably will either be shopping for parts or getting ideas for what to do with what I've got left of my car... lol!

Hopefully the insurance co. knows its more than just a Mustang GT and takes that into consideration. I got hit the same way in my 96 and they repaired the damage. If they do total it and you buy it back let me know if you part it out.

I've been avoiding my computer the past two weeks, mainly because I'm so freakin busy at work that I get home and crash! As for the continuing story of my poor car - the insurance decided to total the car. They tried doing a valuation based on some crappy V6's & GT's, which I wouldn't let fly, so I got them up on the valuation, but the repair estimate was still too close to their threshold to fix it. Since salvage is only $600, I'm keeping the car. Unfortunately, that means I have to wait for the state of Pennsylvania to send me the Salvage Certificate before the insurance will give me the money. Let's just say that the state's idea of processing and mailing time differ greatly from mine! Apparently, they hire someone to walk the thing from Harrisburg to Warminster because i can't think of any other reason that it takes more than 5 days for it to arrive in the mail... Once I get that from the state and the money from the insurance, i'm not sure what I'm going to do with the car. It's a toss up between fixing it and parting it out. If i fix it, i've got a salvage title on the car, but since it's repairable I feel bad about potentially ripping it apart. So for now, i'm running around in either my dad's Jetta or my stupid POS chevy that seems to pop up with another issue each time I fix one I'll have to make a decision at some point I'm sure! LOL!

That sucks Heather. I was thinking about your ride the other day wonder what the verdict was. I say fix it. If the frame isn't too bad the parts can be had to fix it.

I say fix it too. Take as many pics as possible so if and when the time comes that you sell if you can at least show the potential buyer that the damage wasn't too bad and that it was mostly totalled because of the age of the car.

Is there any update on this? I wouldnt part it out. If you dont want to fix it, you should try and find someone that wants to fix it. I would hate to see a true bullitt get ripped apart!

Tigger, I was in the same situation years ago. The problem with a PA salvage title is that it will always be. To fix it and put on the road, you need to pick up a set of forms that spell out everything that needs to be done before they will reinstate the car and send you a new registration. Save and make a copy of all your reciepts for parts and labor because they require you to submit them with your completed packet. You can can get the packet from most fast tag places. One down side to all of this, even if you make the car better then new most people or car dealers will not buy or take a trade in on a car with a reconstructed title from a salvage title (Dealers told me to sell private, they would not do a trade in for me). I hope this helps

I have to tell you, I'm very surprised they didn't agree to fix it. Mine was hit the same way and they fixed it. I cant find the pics of my damage, but never the less they fixed it and its a plain jane 1996 Mustang GT.
